This second high-fidelity simulation lab in Montfort will enable us to run simultaneous simulation sessions, doubling the available lab time while making better use of resources to reach a wider audience. The additional resources and facilities will also help us accomplish our academic mission, despite the current obstacles in the healthcare system. We plan to devote part of the additional space to a semi-permanent professional training area, equipped with state-of-the-art technology to optimize learning.
The expansion also includes the integration of mixed and augmented reality, a fast-growing field making its debut in medical applications. As well as offering a new training experience, we will study its acceptability and effectiveness as a learning tool, enabling us to better understand the clinical impact of this technology.
Hôpital Montfort launched a quality improvement (QI) program called QualiDo, in partnership with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), last winter. This innovative program is designed to eliminate redundant QI activities and reduce the workload required to maintain a physician's license to practice. Designed to streamline quality initiatives at Montfort, the program fosters an organizational culture of quality improvement and eases the burden of meeting OMCO requirements.
With the program underway at Hôpital Montfort, we are delighted to already have over 200 physicians participating.
To reinforce the excellence of clinical services, QualiDo brings together medical champions from different departments, as well as experts in research and program evaluation. Their goal is to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of the factors that increase medical staff commitment to, and performance of, quality improvement practices in an organization with an academic mission. The research team will develop and test an audit and feedback process in three hospital departments, following best practices and documenting participants' perceptions and preferences regarding program modalities.
ēquilia is an innovative program developed in partnership with Institut du Savoir Montfort, Hôpital Montfort, Université de Sherbrooke, Centre de recherche CHUS and CIUSSS de l'Estrie CHUS. It offers online courses based on transdiagnostic cognitive-behavioral therapy, adapted from the Australian This Way Up! program. Designed to support people suffering from mixed anxiety and depressive disorders, Equilia offers a module of six lessons spread over 12 weeks. Accessible free of charge, the platform enables autonomous intervention with the support of a healthcare professional, offering flexibility and temporal structure for better integration of the material. The program is structured in three stages, ranging from autonomous intervention to more intensive therapies, including group or individual psychotherapy, and psychiatric assessment, to suit the specific needs of each participant.
