Alex Dumas obtained his PhD in kinesiology (sociology) from the University of Montreal and continued his postdoctoral studies at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge. Her research mainly focuses on two distinct themes. Firstly, they address social health inequalities and lifestyles (health practices, physical and sports activities) among different social groups (men and women of various socioeconomic statuses, men with heart conditions, clinically obese women, postmenopausal women, and the aging population) drawing on sociocultural approaches. Secondly, they concern the economic, political, ethical, and social dimensions of aging and the aging of populations. His work contributes to the implementation of policies in the fields of research, health promotion, and disease prevention.
