Biography

Bénédicte Fontaine-Bisson is an associate professor at the School of Nutrition Sciences and a professional dietitian. She obtained her PhD in nutritional sciences (specializing in nutrigenetics) from the University of Toronto and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in genetic epidemiology at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) in Paris. His research program studies the impact of nutrition during pregnancy and childhood on maternal and child health. She emphasizes the improvement of interventions and nutritional perinatal services offered to vulnerable populations living in difficult circumstances (e.g., poverty, low education levels, drug dependence). She uses an interdisciplinary approach and coordinated strategies that involve researchers, community stakeholders, health professionals, and knowledge users working together to improve the nutrition, health, and well-being of families.

Dr. Fontaine-Bisson is a researcher affiliated with the Institut du Savoir Montfort (Montfort Hospital) and the Centre de recherche du Centre intégré de santé et des services sociaux (CISSS) de l'Outaouais. She has received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Faculty of Health Sciences (University of Ottawa) and research funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Institut du savoir Montfort and the Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS).
