Dr. Emmanuel Egom holds doctorates from the University of Parma Medical School (Italy) (MD magna cum laude) and the University of Manchester (PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine). He recently moved to Ontario from Nova Scotia, where he was Medical Director of the Cardiac Health Clinic and Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Saint Martha's Hospital, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Dalhousie University.
Prior to this, he was Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the University of Dublin/Trinity College. Dr Emmanuel Egom speaks French and Italian. He is passionate about sport, family and personal care.
His research focuses on heart failure, from its molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways, epidemiology, detection, prevention and complications, including pulmonary hypertension, to the effective implementation of new pharmacological therapies and the planning of randomized trials of new treatments. Other research interests include the role of sphingolipids in the pathophysiology of ischemic heart disease and its complications (HF); and the role of natriuretic peptide receptors (NPRs), particularly type C (NPR-C), in the development of pulmonary hypertension.
