Biography

Professor specializing in organizational behavior and human resource management, François Chiocchio teaches at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa. He is affiliated with the Montfort Institute of Knowledge, where he holds the Montfort Research Chair on the organization of health services. He obtained his PhD in psychology from the University of Montreal, Canada, in 2002.

Her research activities focus on projects, teamwork and collaboration in a variety of organizational settings, including healthcare institutions in Canada and Africa.

His books include Stress and Performance in Health Care Project Teams (PMI), Advancing Human Resource Project Management (Wiley) and The Psychology and Management of Project Teams (Oxford University Press). His research has also been published in peer-reviewed journals (BMC Health Services Research, International Journal of Project Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Small Group Research).

François Chiocchio works very closely with graduate students, as a research director and as a human resources coach for various competitions. A specialist in measurement and evaluation, he has developed a number of instruments for personnel selection, skills development and research. These instruments have won him praise in Canada and Quebec.

He has received major grants from all three organizations and the Project Management Institute. He has received the Telfer Award of Excellence for his activities in research, teaching and community service, and the Department of Education Award for his use of participatory technology in teaching.

François Chiocchio has acquired solid management experience through the administration of his consulting firm and his work as a project manager in the Canadian federal public service. As an academic, he administers the Executive Leadership Centre's MBA program in complex project management. He is also a member of the editorial team of the Project Management Journal and sits on the Board of Directors of Montfort Renaissance Inc. François Chiocchio is one of the few academics specializing in industrial and organizational psychology to hold the Project Management Institute's PMP® (Project Management Professional) certification, the title of Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) from the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (Quebec) and the Certified Human Resource Leader (CHRL) designation from the Human Resources Professionals Association (Ontario).
