Biography

Dr. Vasiliadis holds a PhD in epidemiology and biostatistics from McGill University and a master's degree in pharmacology from the University of Montreal. She is currently an associate professor and researcher at the University of Sherbrooke in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, as well as at the Research Center of Charles Lemoyne Hospital in Longueuil.Professor Vasiliadis' research program aims to outline the contours of a balanced mental health care system, one that can adequately and comprehensively support the community psychiatric services provided to a population. To promote a balanced mental health care system and ensure equitable access to services for individuals with common and severe mental disorders, policy decisions regarding the organization and allocation of mental health resources must be based on evidence regarding the services and interventions provided, the needs of the population, and the utilization of services (residential, community) at the individual, regional, and provincial levels. The research program leverages clinical, administrative, and population data from Canadian and international surveys. Dr. Vasiliadis's work focuses on the determinants associated with the use of psychotropic medications and mental health services in the population (equity, accessibility), quality of life, and the analysis of costs and effectiveness of health services for various clients suffering from psychological distress and severe mental disorders.
