Biography

Dr. Bradwejn holds an MD from the Université de Sherbrooke and a Diploma in Psychiatry from McGill University. He obtained fellowships to sub-specialize in psychopharmacology at McGill University, then in neuropsychopharmacology at the Université de Montréal. He held professorships at McGill University and the University of Toronto, before moving to Ottawa as Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Bradwejn has also held the positions of Psychiatrist-in-Chief at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, as well as Head of the Department of Psychiatry at The Ottawa Hospital. In 2007, he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

Dr Bradwejn is active as a researcher in psychiatry and mental health. His fields of interest are psychobiology, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy of anxiety and mood disorders. He is internationally recognized for his work on the role of cholecystokinin (CCK) in panic attacks. The target populations are adults suffering from these disorders, and their children who are at risk.
