Biography

Dr. Jean A. Roy holds a doctorate in medicine from the University of Ottawa as well as a specialist certificate in family medicine from the University of Montreal. Before pursuing medical studies, he completed a bachelor's degree in philosophy at the Dominican University College in Ottawa. Dr. Roy is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He is passionate about training new French-speaking doctors and has successively held the roles of Vice-Dean for French Affairs, Director of the Centre for Educational Support in Health for Francophonie (CAPSAF), and now Director of the Medicine, Ethics, and Humanities program at the Faculty of Medicine. Also, at the faculty of medicine, he is the originator of several international collaborations, notably with the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin, Africa.

Research interests

  • The design and evaluation of online self-learning modules in a medical education context, as well as the development of humanities skills among medical students to better serve populations.
