Biography

In addition to working as an intensivist at Montfort, Dr. Kyeremanteng works in the intensive care units (ICU) and palliative care units at The Ottawa Hospital. The management of the organ donation program at Montfort Hospital and the facilitation of municipal roundtables on intensive care units, which received very positive feedback, are among its achievements in 2016. During the same year, Dr. Kyeremanteng published five papers and secured two internal grants. He is also the head of the new committee on quality and safety in intensive care.

In 2017, Dr. Kyeremanteng undertook several projects that focus primarily on the use of resources in the ICU. He and his colleagues have presented numerous abstracts to the CFAC and CSMA, and will soon be working with the ATS. He will also continue to mentor several residents and fellows who offer to assist him with these projects.

Dr. Kyeremanteng wants to further develop the resource optimization network. This multidisciplinary group (which includes members of the Telfer School of Management) is studying strategies to improve the quality of care and reduce health care costs. In collaboration with the ICU research group, Dr. Kyeremanteng is also developing a survey to assess barriers to integrating palliative care into critical care (through the ICU Seed Grant). If he is successful, he hopes to implement this poll on a national scale.
