Léonel Philibert holds a doctorate in public and community health from Laval University. He also holds a master's degree in development sciences and two bachelor's degrees in medical technology and law from the State University of Haiti. He is an assistant professor at the University of Ontario French and an associate professor at Laval University. He is a regular researcher at the UNESCO Chair on migration and Francophonie in a minority context. He worked as a manager at the National Public Health Laboratory of Haiti and in several international NGOs. He coordinated several research and intervention projects in Haiti, Canada, and Burkina Faso. He worked as a research professional at the Network for Evaluation and Innovation in Sustainable Health (REI-SD) and was a teacher-researcher at the State University of Haiti. His areas of interest include population health in minority contexts, immigrant health, reproductive health, global health, social health inequalities, and citizen participation. He adopts theoretical and epistemological frameworks associated with social justice, intersectionality, and gender equality.
