Biography

Dr. Lise M. Bjerre is the first holder of the Chair in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa and the Montfort Knowledge Institute, effective January 1, 2021. She is an epidemiologist and family physician practicing with the Family Health Team at the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital. She holds a B.Sc. in Biology (BSc Hons.) from Concordia University, an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from McGill University, an M.D. (Diplôme d'études médicales; MDCM) from McGill University, and an M.D. (Dr. med.) from the University of Göttingen, Germany. She is also certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP). In addition to her clinical career in family medicine, which she has pursued on two continents, she has considerable research experience as a clinician-researcher with the DMF since 2010, and is also affiliated with the University of Ottawa's School of Epidemiology and Public Health. The accomplished researcher is also an Associate Scientist at ICES - the organization responsible for Ontario's population health databases, which she uses for many of her studies.
