Biography

Marie-France Lafontaine holds a PhD in psychology from the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières. She is currently an associate professor at the School of Psychology in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa. His research interests include, among others, adult attachment, clinical psychology, same-sex and heterosexual relationships, domestic violence, and physical and mental health. In 2003, she established the Couples Research Laboratory at the University of Ottawa. This laboratory conducts scientific research on the topic of couple relationships (heterosexual and homosexual). The various cross-sectional and longitudinal research projects aim to understand the affective, cognitive, and behavioral determinants of marital satisfaction, as well as to identify the numerous personal and relational factors that contribute to the success of married life for both Francophone and Anglophone couples from the general population, as well as those facing specific issues such as chronic pain, diabetes, and domestic violence.
