Biography

Doctor Hafez graduated from the Institute of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa after completing a three-year postdoctoral training in cardiology, from 2009 to 2012. Holder of a license from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, specializing in internal medicine and cardiology, he is a certified member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine. He also completed the critical care medicine program of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Hafez obtained his certification in cardiac computed tomography from the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT), and his certification in nuclear cardiology from the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. (CBNC). He holds a certificate of completion for the examination on special skills in adult echocardiography, issued by the National Board of Echocardiography, Inc.

Dr. Hafez is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Hafez completed his residency in internal medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and then pursued his postdoctoral training in intensive care at the University of Pittsburgh. He began practicing his profession as the head of the medical department and the intensive care unit in Carbonear. (TerreNeuveetLabrador). He also held a position as an assistant professor at Memorial University, located in St. John's. He then moved to St. Catharines (Ontario) to work at St. Catharines General Hospital, where he launched a new model of intensive care unit and worked as a full-time intensivist.

Dr. Hafez is participating in a new smart book project aimed at physical examinations in cardiology in collaboration with the Heart Institute of the University of Ottawa, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, the Institute of Technology in Morocco, and the Montfort Knowledge Institute. The main objective of this project is to transform the learning process for medical students and residents through the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics.

In the fields of clinical research and continuing medical education, Dr. Hafez's interests include cardiac imaging, post-myocardial infarction treatment, heart failure management and medical education, in addition to reviewing best practices and clinical guidelines (e.g. CIHI's Choosing with Care initiative).
