Guy Legault, FCPA, MBA – Chair, Board of Directors of the Institut du Savoir Montfort
Guy Legault has been President and Chief Executive Officer of the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU) since May 2017. Fully bilingual, he has had a distinguished career in the leadership and management of non-profit organizations, including provincial and national professional associations.
Prior to joining CALU, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. He also worked in the financial sector as President and CEO of the Canadian Payments Association for nine years and as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada for eight years.
His degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Relations from the University of Montreal and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sherbrooke. He holds the CPA designation and the title of FCPA Fellow, which was awarded to him for his contribution to the profession.
Guy is dedicated to his career as an association executive and is involved in his community as a volunteer. He holds the designation of Association Executive Emeritus (A.E.E.) from the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE), of which he was president. He received the Pinnacle Award in 2021 for his outstanding contribution to the CADA and the association sector.
He is also a past president of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, where he served on the board of directors for ten years.
He served on the non-mutual policyholder committee during the demutualization process of The Economical Mutual Insurance Company. He has also volunteered and served as a director for many other organizations, including the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and several subgroups of the Payment System Review Task Force.
Guy is currently a member of the Hôpital Montfort Association in Ottawa and a director and chair of the board of directors of the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM). He served on the steering committee for the 2024-2028 joint strategic plan for Hôpital Montfort, Santé Montfort, and ISM.
He brings to the ISM Board of Directors specialized expertise in governance, finance, organizational strategy, and human resources. His experience in continuing education and large-scale educational program management is a major asset in supporting the ISM's mission to advance health knowledge from a Francophone, interdisciplinary, and humanistic perspective.
