Martine Lagacé, PhD – Administrator, Board of Directors of the Institut du Savoir Montfort

Martine Lagacé is a high-level researcher and university administrator, recognized for her expertise in communication, social psychology, and research on aging. A full professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Ottawa and affiliated with the School of Psychology, she has held the position of Associate Vice-President, Research Promotion and Development, Science in French since 2018. In this capacity, she plays a strategic role in the development of university research, particularly in the context of Francophone minorities.

Her research focuses primarily on psychosocial issues related to aging, particularly ageism. She has conducted several field studies in Canada and internationally, and her publications have contributed significantly to advancing knowledge about age discrimination. She is the author of two reference works on the subject and regularly collaborates with institutions such as Bruyère Research Institute, Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal, Royal Mental Health Research Institute and Institut du Savoir Montfort.

With more than 20 years of experience at the University of Ottawa, where she also served as Vice-Dean of Governance and Chair of the Department of Communication, Ms. Lagacé has in-depth knowledge of academia and university governance, in addition to her research background. She has also worked as a spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada and as a host for Radio-Canada, demonstrating her skills in public communication.

Her commitment to the Francophonie, health research, and knowledge development in minority contexts makes her a natural ally of ISM. As an administrator, she hopes to help strengthen the ties between the University of Ottawa and the ISM and to promote the Institute's mission within Francophone communities and the health research community.
